Unrelated updates about the week

Sorry for my infrequent posts this week. I worked an extra shift on Tuesday night, and I'm still trying to recover. Then, I was finally gonna post something yesterday, but our Internet access went out for some reason. Chris tried to fix it but to no avail. He mentioned something about "low packets" and said we needed to get ahold of the cable company. But by the time he had a chance to look at it, it was too late to call. So, this morning, I called Cox, and at the same time I absentmindly turned on the computer once more to see if the modem would work. Just as I was pressing one for English, I saw that the surfboard magically had all the proper lights on again. That turn-it-off-and-turn-it-back-on thing continues to be the answer to all the world's great problems it seems.

Tomorrow is our 6th wedding anniversary. In some ways, it doesn't seem like we've been together that long, but I can't remember what it was like to be apart, so I guess that's about right. As we say so often to each other, "I love our family." Happy Anniversary, Chris, I love you!!

In other news, we received a huge blessing this week. My parents gave us their '04 Honda Odyssey. That's right: I drive a van now and am, therefore, officially an old fart :). I wasn't sure I was ready to give up the good ol' Accord that has served us so faithfully for the past 6 years (I get kinda attached to things sometimes), but I'm really likin' the van so far. It's pretty great to have so much room for all the baby accoutrements, and I've already been to Sam's twice just 'cause I have the trunk space for the ultramegasuper diaper boxes and 16 gallon vats-o-mayonnaise now. Plus, with the cooler weather upon us, the seat heaters are a very welcome upgrade. It also has a built-in DVD player, which Chris and I have decided will mainly be used for long trips. We get enough movie-watching in at home, believe me!

Let's see, what else? Oh, Chris and I get to go to another Razorback game this weekend. I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been following the fan saga recently, so I don't know how well-attended the game will be, but I don't really care about all that. I would like to see Houston leave after this season too, but I'm not one to communicate that in skipping games--again, I think that mainly punishes the players.

The reunion banquet last Saturday night was fun but was also a bit too cliquey for my taste. I sat with my closest high school friends and was glad to be with them, but it was a little daunting to try to get around to see anyone else because everyone was locked into their tables all night or out on the dance floor. The music played loudly even during dinner, so conversation was hard, and I would have liked to see a bit more room and time for mingling. The picnic on Saturday afternoon was great, although I felt pulled in several directions at once--trying to get around to talk to everybody, making sure my husband felt included, and playing with Jackson on the playground equipment was a lot to undertake. I really didn't even slow down to eat a full meal. The weather held out nicely; the sun was shining, and the breeze was refreshing, if a little gusty at times. I found out that a lot of people didn't go to the picnic because they didn't have kids, which is a shame because I believe their presence would have added to the event.

  2. Apparently I should have gone to the picnic. I used to think mini vans sucked until my grandma got one. So Keisha and I are quite jealous of your new acquisition.

i figured the infrequency was due to the awesome costumes!
