This morning, as he was watching TV, Jackson would leave the room every few minutes to go do who knows what for a while. Each time he did so, I turned off the television because the noise from the pushy lion that Cooper was playing with was quite enough by itself (thus confirming my suspicions that I'm becoming more and more like my mother with every passing day). When he would return to the living room, he scolded me for turning off the TV, with a wagging finger and everything, and turned it back on every time. After this cycle repeated once or twice, Jackson was becoming increasingly upset with me. So the next time he left, instead of turning the TV off, I just muted the sound. When he returned, he just sat quietly on the couch and watched the silent picture for several moments. I began to realize that he was becoming perplexed, and after a while he shared his concerns with me. "My ears boh-ken, Mom", tugging on one lobe to make his point. Smiling to myself, I grabbed the remote to turn up the volume. After I did so, my son said, "Oh, I fee bettah now."
