I just walked out of the OR, after escorting Ella back to the room. The anesthesiologist let me hold her hands and offer comfort while he gave her the first bit of gas to go to sleep. I kissed her check through my face mask and said "see you later." All without crying, which I wasn't sure I'd be able to do.
The surgery itself probably won't start for another hour, as they have lots of prep to do first.
I'll keep you posted.
